The Town of Unicoi Hosts First Code Camp

On Thursday, July 28 the Town of Unicoi hosted the first code camp in the county sponsored by the Niswonger Foundation. The camp consisted of thirteen middle school students eager to learn from Stephen Hendrix of the ETSU Department of Computing. The day-long course consisted of topics, such as website building, allowing the students to gain hands on experience with the programs. 83478ee4-524d-490e-a9a2-03a087292ae1

“We would love to have a week long camp next year,” said Director of Parks and Recreation, Sarah Jennings. “It is important for kids to get this experience and offer them a time to learn.”

The computers for the camp were made available by AccelNow and HBDC. The same mobile computer lab is available for other school systems and community groups around the eight-county region. Please contact Keith Nakoff for further details.
