An AccelNow Client Feature on Flow MedTech.
Flow MedTech, Inc. is a Health Wildcatters portfolio company developing an innovative therapy to reduce the chance of strokes in patients with atrial fibrillation by preventing clot formation in the left atrial appendage. The aim of the company is to design, develop, and commercialize novel catheter-based devices to reduce stroke risk, states the company’s website.
Founded by two graduates of the Georgia Tech Biomedical Engineering Program and AccelNow Clients, Christine Hang and Arnab Chakraborty, Flow MedTech™ is currently negotiating with multiple international partners for out-licensing opportunities.
Out-licensing is a common practice by which companies commercialize their business. It occurs when a company, Licensor, grants a third party, Licensee, the rights to use their equipment or technology in exchange for royalties or other considerations. Companies benefit from out-licensing in a variety of ways, including generating income, improving market strength, and minimizing legal costs.
Flow MedTech™ is also in the process of nationalizing its second patent in strong medical markets, including the U.S., E.U., Australia, and New Zealand, and has accomplished and closed its seed raise of funding.
Chakraborty also shared with us that, “We are very excited to have Dr. Senthil Thambidorai join us as our Vice President of Medical Affairs,” another big step for the startup. In addition, Flow MedTech™ has entered into two strategic partnerships with a marketing company and an engineering group, which will allow Flow MedTech™ to get to the market sooner and achieve greater global market penetration.
